How to Make a Free Website With Freewebs
1. Register at freewebs (see link in Resources below) and get started.
2. Pick a template for your site. There are about 300 templates available.
3. Decide which types of pages you want to add to the site. Options include: pages, albums, forms, blogs, forums, profiles and guest book.
4. When you have a few pages completed, you can add links or a navbar to each of them, and specify a homepage.
5. Everything is editable. You can edit existing pages and even change your template.
6. The tools include options to add content, images, multimedia, links and widgets (numerous widgets are provided). You can format text for font and size, create lists, set alignment and do the usual text editing such as copy and paste within your content.
7. The widgets you can add include maps, games, RSS feeds and a personalized chat room from Meebo.
8. Add your own video, or embed video from sources like YouTube.
9. While in freewebs, edit photos online with Picnik, an online photo editing tool that helps you crop, color, resize, rotate, adjust colors and more.
10. Interactive options you can add include blogs and forums. The Profiles at freewebs are also interactive. In the Profile page, you and your users can leave comments, add friends and send messages.
11. Add online payment tools from PayPal.
12. There are a number of premium packeges for a fee. This would buy you your own domain name and get you some email accounts to go with it. If you stick with the free services and don't buy a domain, your URL will be something like freewebs.com/yoursite.
