How to Make Money on AdWords

1. Launch a Web browser and to adwords.google.com to set up an account.

2. Fund the account with a free coupon from a Google partner, or with a credit or debit card.

3. Create an ad group and set up the keywords that relate to the theme of the target site.

4. Configure restraints for geographical distribution of the ads.

5. Set up a daily budget and create a maximum price-per-click for each keyword, or for the entire ad group.

6. Update the website to reflect fresh, relevant information, or display enticing action content that will drive sales or leads.

How to Get Paid for Linking

1. Become a paid blogger. Sign up for a paid-to-link program for free. Do not bother with those who charge for membership. Why should you pay to make money when you can do it for free? Join the paid-to-link program and place text links on your blog site or on post pages. You make more money for the link plus a short blog post. Here are a few sites to get you started: PayPerPost, Blogvertise, ReviewMe, BloggingAds and PayU2Blog.

2. Place text or banner links on your blog or website. This is how you will get paid. Each time a visitor clicks the link, you get counted for one click-through. You may be paid a certain amount per click or a percentage of the sales generated from your lead or a combination of both.

3. Become an affiliate by signing up on the vendor's website and create your link. You can make a good residual income from advertising your affiliate links on your blog. Write a short post --- around 300 words --- and place your link within the text with an invitation to check out your product. The post must be relevant to the product to encourage readers to click through. Affiliate links can be obtained by joining Amazon.com, Clickbank.com and Commission Junction just to name a few. On your blog or within a post, place the link with your associate ID embedded in it. You earn a commission when a visitor clicks the link and purchases the product. Clickbank products generally pay between 50 percent and 75 percent of each sale.

4. Create a HubPage or Squidoo Lens that will allow you to make webpages on any topic and link to affiliate products. It is as easy as writing an article; you can add photos, YouTube videos and text links within the body and place links to your other sites and blogs.

5. Write and submit articles to article directories with your links. Write a short 400-word article relevant to your product and place your link in the body, if allowed, or in the author bio box. Some publishers like Ezine Articles do not allow affiliate links, but you can place links to your blog with a redirect to the affiliate site. GoArticles and ArticlesBase allow links in the body, but Ezine Articles only allows links in the bio box.

The Facts About Earning Money Online

Home Entrepreneurs

In October 2009, Businessweek Magazine reported that more than half of all business in America were home-based, and about 6.6 million provided more than half of the total household income for the owners. These businesses employed more than 13 million people in 2008, while venture-backed companies only employed 12.1 million.

Work for Others at Home

Rat Race Rebellion, an online job resource co-founded by CNN Internet Fraud and Safety Expert Chris Durst, notes that many well-known companies offer legitimate work from home opportunities. Aetna Insurance has a Telework Program that hires work-at-home employees for call center work and a variety of other jobs. Demand Studios hires people to write and edit articles on a wide variety of topics. An educational background and/or professional experience in virtually any field will qualify competent writers, even if they have no professional writing experience. Rat Race Rebellion lists opportunities for dozens of other specialty areas, from home court reporting to home translation to home teaching jobs.

Google

Web developers can sign up for Google's Adsense program and make money from advertising on their sites. To make significant profits with Adsense, you need to upload quality content consistently, working in a niche market, and you must understand the ins and outs of search engine optimization. Google also hires people for various work-at-home jobs, including--believe it or not--web surfing. As a part-time Ads Quality Rater, you would be responsible for analyzing the quality of websites all over the Internet to help Google establish its search rankings.

Scams

The Ad Quality job requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience and verifiable knowledge of the Internet. This distinguishes it from what Scambusters--a nonprofit Internet watchdog group--calls 'Know Nothing, Do Nothing' scams. Any make-money-online offer that says you don't need to know about the Internet or even use a computer is a scam. Scambusters advises that you never pay for an opportunity to work from home and that you research the business making the offer before investing yourself in it.

Reporting Fraud

While it may be embarrassing if you find yourself a victim of an online scam, it's important that you report it so that others don't suffer the same fate. The Internet Crime Complaint Center combines the resources of the FBI, the National White Crime Collar Center and the Bureau of Justice Assistance to track down a wide range of Internet scams. You can file a complaint at its website.

How to Create a Facebook Ad

1. Sign in to Facebook. If you do not have an account, create one by visiting Facebook's home page.

2. Click 'More' from the left side of the page. A new menu will appear, with various links. Click 'Ads.' Click 'Billing' from the left side of the page and click 'Funding Source' under 'Billing.' Click 'Add a funding source' to add a payment method for your ad.

3. Click 'Campaigns and Ads' on the left side of the page, then click the green 'Create an Ad' button at the top right of the page. The ad setup page will appear.

4. Choose the destination of the ad, which is where users who click the ad will be taken. For example, select 'External URL' and then type the desired URL in the 'External URL' text box to link your ad to that site.

5. Create a title and body for the ad in the respective text boxes. The body can only contain 135 characters, so focus on grabbing the reader's attention and telling him why he should click your ad.

6. Click 'Choose File' next to 'Image' to upload an image that will serve as the face of your ad. If the image is a word or phrase, make sure the font is large enough for the reader to see. Look at the 'Preview' box and adjust the look of the ad, if you wish.

7. Fill in the targeting information under the 'Targeting' section. The targeting details determine who your ad reaches. For example, if you select women ages 24 to 30 with interests in family and music, your ad will only reach the people who fall in that demographic and have those interests. Targeting is vital to the performance of your ad. You don't want to target senior citizens for a product that appeals to 21-year-olds.

8. Complete the 'Campaigns, Pricing and Scheduling' section. For this section, you must enter the campaign name, your budget and your bid. You also must select if you wish to run the campaign continuously and whether you want to pay per click or per impression. It's almost always better to pay per click, as that will give you enough data on whether the ad is enticing enough for people to click on or not. By paying per impression, you pay regardless if people click on your ad or not.

9. Click 'Place Order.' Facebook will review the ad and approve it. Approval time varies but typically takes no longer than five to 10 hours.

How to Disclose You're Being Paid to Blog

1. Write your paid blog post for the sponsoring company. Be honest in your endorsement and maintain the integrity of your blog when writing.

2. Include, at the top or bottom of your paid post, that a company paid you to write that specific post. The FTC requires this disclosure on all paid blog posts so your readers know of the relationship you have with the company.

3. Indicate the company name and the product in your disclosure, but not the amount paid you. If you wrote about the product or company without compensation, disclose this as well so readers know it's your personal opinion.

How to Make $3,000 a Month in Passive Income

1. Choose the method, or methods, of how you would like to make a passive income. Affiliate sales are commissions on products, usually downloadable, paid to you when a sale is made through your affiliate code. Click per action, CPA, is cash paid when a visitor to your site performs a certain action such as completing a form, providing contact information or signing up for a service. The difference between affiliate sales and CPA is you don't have to make a sale for CPA. Advertising income is earned when a visitor to your site clicks on an advertisement. Set goals for each of the methods that total $100 per day. You might decide that $10 per day in advertising revenue, $25 in CPA and $65 in affiliate sales commissions is doable.

2. Select the products you wish to promote. Find affiliate products through Clickbank, Commission Junction, Amazon.com, or search by brand name +affiliate. Companies such as Groupon or Angie's List have affiliate programs as well. Ensure the product has a nice size payout. If the commission is only $10 you'll have to sell 300 products a month, or 10 a day to make $3,000 per month. If the commission is $25 per sale, you only have to sell four per day to make your number.

3. Monetize your website with Google AdSense. Research keyword phrases that relate to your selected method and products you wish to promote. Google AdSense keyword tool tells you how many searches were made for a keyword phrase and the competition for that keyword phrase from advertisers. You can find out what the cost per click is for the phrase on the Google AdSense traffic estimator. That is what the advertiser pays. That pay is split between Google and you. You don't have be an advertiser to use the tool. Keyword phrase selection is important. The search engines will place you higher on the search results page, that means more visitors and a higher potential to earn your $3,000 per month.

4. Register a domain that includes your main keyword phrase. For example if you've selected a weight loss product you might want to register 'www.loseweightfast.com' or 'www.tipstoloseweightfast.com' if you're promoting a book on homemade dog food, your domain might be 'www.healthyhomemadedogfood.com.'

5. Find a Web host company. Set up your website or blog. For newcomers to Internet marketing a blog is less of a hassle than a static website. Fantastico is a program on most control panels at your Web host. In Fantastisco, select a blog platform. With a click of your mouse your blog will be set up on your domain. Write blog posts that include your keyword phrase in the title of the post and once in each paragraph. The blog posts should have your affiliate links to the products you're promoting and your CPA links.

6. Promote your website or blog by submitting it to the main search engines. Write articles about the topic of your website or blog. Include a link to your blog using your keyword phrase as the text. Submit the articles to directories. This sets up backlinks pointing to your website.

7. Use other methods of traffic generation such as pinging your website or blog, setting up a network of free sites such as HubPages, Xanga, Weebly and Squidoo and posting on discussion forums with your keyword phrase linking back to your blog. The more targeted visitors to your site, the higher the probability you'll make $100 a day.

Explain Google AdSense

Setup

To create a new AdSense account, navigate to the Google AdSense website and click the 'Sign up Now' button. Log in with your Google account or create a new one and follow the onscreen instructions to list your website. If you don't have a website, you can create a free Blogger website using the same Google account. After applying, Google will review the website and send a confirmation or denial email with further instructions. It may take several days to receive a response.

Ad Contents

AdSense displays ads based on several factors. Some ads use contextual clues in the website, such as keywords and usage frequency, to find ads relevant to the site's content. Advertisers can also choose specific ads based on the website or hosting service, and visitors who have Google accounts may use the Google Ads Preference Manager to view ads specifically relevant to them.

Restrictions

Google only allows AdSense to run on websites with family-friendly content, and restricts its use on sites with illegally posted copyrighted material, or content focusing on adult themes, gambling, drugs, violence or weapons. AdSense also restricts users from artificially inflating revenue by clicking their own ads, using leading language to generate additional clicks or using misleading ad labels or obvious graphics to focus attention on ads.

Must Have WordPress Widgets, Plugins Themes

Widgets

The number and type of widgets you use on your WordPress blog will depend on your theme and the amount of space available on the sidebar. A 'Categories' widget is essential to allowing your readers to browse your pages, and the 'Recent Posts' plugin will make sure regular visitors don't miss a post. A 'Search' widget is also a valuable addition to a website, particularly if you have a lot of content. Most websites place this at the top of their sidebar.

Plugins for Functionality

'Akismet' is an essential plugin for any WordPress site with comments enabled. To activate Akismet, you need a WordPress API key which can be obtained by signing up for an account at WordPress.com. The 'Contextual Related Posts' plugin adds a list of similar posts at the end of each post, and the 'Subscribe to any' and 'Add to any' plugins help your visitors subscribe to your site and share your work via their social media accounts respectively.

Plugins for Monetization

The 'Yoast SEO' plugin allows a great number of search engine optimization procedures to be enabled without going into the HTML source code. It can turn post tags into title tags, which is beneficial, but if you want to override this for individual posts, the 'Custom Title Tags' plugin will do this for you. The 'WhyDoWork' AdSense plugin allows Google AdSense ads -- or any other type of ad -- to be positioned at various places through your articles using a simple interface.

Themes

The 'Thesis' theme is a highly customizable theme framework that makes it easy to customize the styling and functionality of your site without any HTML knowledge. However, it comes at a price, and the 'WooThemes' templates also offer a large range of functional and stylistic editing options but for free. For an impressive home page to your blog, the 'WP-Coda' theme uses JQuery to make a slide-show based on your site's pages, and displays it on your blog's main index.

How to Make Money Online for Kids

1. Let kids sell items on eBay. The rules of the site allow an adult with an account in good standing to let children sell through the site as long as their activities are supervised. Kids can sell anything that is allowed for sale by the Website. A few ideas for kids' sales are selling their outgrown clothes and shoes, old toys they no longer play with, craft items they've made, and cheap items that they buy at the thrift store in order to resell.

2. Give kids a digital camera. Let them sell their digital photos. Sites like Stock Exchange let all customers list their photos for sale through the Website. It then pays the photographer a portion for each sale. The photos can be of household items, nature items or anything else that someone might want to buy to use on their Website or for their commercial projects. Some sites will require that the adult have the account. However, as long as the parent supervises the account, kids can make money from the photographs.

3. Set up a blog that will allow the child to make money. A kid can post his own blog posts on his own blog which is then monetized by placing ads on the site. Affiliate ads can be placed as banner ads or as links in the text of the blog posts. Readers click on the links, and a commission is earned for the blogger if the reader then buys an item.

4. Have kids make crafts that can be sold on Etsy. The site is a third-party retail Website that sells online hand-made crafts. The sales may have to be supervised by an adult account holder, but there are many money-making possibilities with the site. Kids love to make things, and Etsy has a growing customer base of people who love hand-made items.

5. Help kids to create their own Websites. The Websites can then be monetized with ads that kids can negotiate on their own. This would require kids to contact Websites and ask the site to advertise. Ad networks that supply paid ads require people to be 18 to sign up. That makes the site-to-site negotiation necessary. Kids can also have a donation button on their Website that allows people to donate to a PayPal account that is held in a parent's name.

6. Place AdSense ads on a Website or blog using a parent's account. AdSense account holders must be 18, but kids are allowed to use their parents' AdSense codes on their own Websites. Ashley Qualls, the owner of Whateverlife, started the Website at the age of 14, using her parent's AdSense account to make money from the Website. She makes MySpace layouts and gives them away for free through the Website. She earns about $70,000 per month from the Website through AdSense and other ad revenue.

How to Start a Blog Make Money Online in 10 Easy Steps

1. Choose a subject that you're passionate about. The most important thing to know about blogging is that you have to blog about something you care about. The subject should be something that intrigues you, motivates you, or interests you. You will be researching, reading, and writing about this topic in depth and, if you don't care about the subject area, it will be difficult to keep writing. The subject can vague, like 'health', or specific, like 'diabetes.' Don't choose such a narrow topic that you can't write extensively on it, like 'Diabetes doctors in Small Town, North Dakota.'

2. Choose a platform on which to host your blog. The most popular free sites include blogger.com and wordpress.org. If you would like to have your own independent domain name (e.g. http://yourdomainname.com as opposed to http://yourdomainname.blogger.com), this will cost money from the beginning of the project.

3. Set up your blog. Once you've choose a platform, such as blogger.com, you will need a name for your blog, a template, and a tagline. The name and tagline should be descriptive so that someone coming to your blog for the first time will know what your blog is about.

4. Read other established bloggers in your topic area. To figure out what you should write about, it helps to see what others are also writing about. Moreover, by become a regular reader of bloggers in your topic area so that you can stay aware of new or interesting ideas and have a community (see step 9). Browse through blog directories like Technorati.com to find similar bloggers.

5. Write 10 blog posts before posting any content. To ensure that you've chosen a topic that you are comfortable blogging about and to create a first solid set of content, it helps to have prewritten 10 posts before fully launching your new blog.

6. Sign up for ad and affiliate networks that will earn you money. Google Adsense and Amazon.com are very common ways to make money. Commission Junction and Linkshare are also good affiliate networks that give you a share of revenue if you promote and sell certain products.

7. Publish content on a regular basis. Start publishing your content on a regular schedule such as daily, 5-days per week, or once a week. The more content you produce, the higher the chance that you will make money.

8. Spread the word. Email your friends and family to let them know about your new blog. These people will become some of your biggest fans and regular readers.

9. Become part of the blogging community by linking to others and commenting on other blogs. In order to increase traffic to your new blog, you should link to other bloggers' posts from within your own posts, comment on other bloggers' sites, and request to be put on other bloggers' blogrolls. (A blogroll is a list of other bloggers that you like.) It also helps to submit your posts to 'blog carnivals,' as these will bring in links and additional readers to your site.

10. Continue to write and wait. It generally takes a few weeks to start drawing regular readers and ad revenue. After a few weeks, you can try putting your ads on different places on your website to see if they bring more clicks.

How to Build a Commercial Web Site

1. Determine the purpose for your commercial website. Individuals often build a commercial website for two reasons: to promote their company or small business and its services/products, or to create a new revenue stream and generate an online income. The former will often highlight the small business and feature product pages and methods in which the visitor can purchase items. The latter will typically center on content and information supported by advertisements. Both commercial website types are similar in their creation, though the actual design for the website may differ slightly.

2. Register for a web hosting account. Choose a professional web host plan that can handle a large amount of visitors and offers robust services and features that allow you to track visitors and website traffic. Various service providers offer economical hosting plans that serve the needs of commercial websites. Examples include GoDaddy and 1&1 (links in the Resources section).

3. Connect your FTP client with your web host account. You will need your domain name (provided with your hosting plan) and password to sync your FTP client with the online server. An FTP client allows you to manage your online files and upload new site files as you build your commercial website.

4. Create a new commercial web page. You may write the HTML code by hand if you are experienced with basic HTML, using a web design program such as Adobe Dreamweaver or a basic text editing utility. Alternatively, use an automated commercial website generator included with most website hosting plans (e.g., 1&1 provides tutorials and an automated program to help you create a professional website without knowing HTML code).

5. Upload the commercial website files to your website server using your FTP client.

6. Integrate affiliate marketing to make money online using your commercial website. Affiliate marketing works by giving you a small commission for selling a product or service. Various companies offer affiliate accounts to help you make money on the Internet by promoting their products. Choose a professional affiliate marketing program to avoid being scammed. Various reputable, online companies give independent publishers an opportunity to join their affiliate marketing. Examples include Amazon's Amazon Associates and Commission Junction (links in the Resources section). Insert your affiliate links into your commercial website to make money anytime a visitor buys the product or service.

7. Insert advertising, such as Google AdSense, into your commercial website. Google AdSense is one of the most popular third-party advertising programs. The advantage of using a third-party advertising program is that you do not have to manually find advertisers and manage their accounts. After inserting the Google AdSense code, Google serves relevant ads to your commercial website and pays you every time someone clicks on an ad.

8. Promote the commercial website you've built to gain more traffic and earn more money off of the affiliate marketing and advertising on your web pages. Build organic traffic by requesting links from other relevant commercial websites so that visitors have an increased chance of finding your page.

What Is an MFA Blog?

AdSense

AdSense is a system that allows webmasters to display advertisements on their websites. Companies post their advertisements through the Google AdWords program, selecting and displaying the keyword phrases that fit their advertisements. Companies bid against one another for keyword phrases, and higher competition for a keyword phrase results in higher bid prices. When a reader clicks an AdSense advertisement, Google pays the webmaster displaying the advertisement a percentage of the advertiser's bid for that keyword phrase.

How MFA Blogs Work

Because AdSense clicks pay more for keyword phrases with high bids from advertisers, webmasters often create MFA blogs around keyword phrases that are known to be highly competitive -- just a few advertisement clicks per day can add up to a substantial amount of money. However, instead of creating original content that brings value to readers, MFA blogs generally reprint content from outside sources such as Wikipedia or free article directories. Although all websites that display advertisements do so with the goal of earning money, an MFA blog is one that does not exist for any purpose except to attract ad clicks. Such websites may also employ deceptive techniques, such as displaying so many advertisements that there is little that a reader can click that isn't an ad.

Drawbacks

Google does not want a website visitor to click an AdSense ad unless she is truly interested in the product or service that is advertised. Because MFA blogs are often poorly written and have little value, visitors seldom want to stay and might click any link just to go to another website. These people are probably not particularly interested in the product or service, and most likely will not become customers. Therefore, the MFA blog does not serve the reader -- who simply wants to get away from the website -- nor does it serve the advertiser, who has paid Google and the webmaster to refer a potential customer who has little interest in the product.

Google's MFA Policies

Google's webmaster quality guidelines specify that a website should be created for the users first, and that they should not employ deceptive practices to attract or monetize traffic. Google also discourages websites with little original content from participating in the AdSense program. A website that pulls all of its content from outside sources such as free article directories does not provide any information that users cannot obtain elsewhere. Thus, it provides little value and risks being seen as an MFA blog. Such websites may be banned from participating in the AdSense program.

How to set up URL Channels for Google Adsense

1. Open your favorite Web browser and log in to the Adsense website. Click the 'My ads' tab at the top of the page.

2. Click the 'URL Channels' link in the 'Content' section. Click the 'New URL Channel' button.

3. Enter the URLs you want to track in the box that appears. Enter a single address per line. Typing a domain with no sub domain or pages will track the entire domain's earnings, for example, typing 'http://mydomain.com' will also track earnings from 'www.mydomain.com' and any pages under it.

4. Click the 'Add URL Channels' button after you've entered the domains. The URL Channel performance may be seen in the 'Performance Reports' tab in the 'URL Channels' link.

How to Make Money on the Internet

1. **Read this, just for a bit of inspiration**I make about $3,500 a month on the internet. Not quite enough for me and my family to live on, but a nice addition to my income just the same. It's pretty easy, and pretty quick, to get a SMALL income stream started. It takes time and effort to build it up. Might as well get started today.

2. **Take stock of what you have to offer**If you are a writer, programmer, designer, or photographer, there are oodles of opportunities for you. If you have a speciality of any sort -- carpentry, raising kids, planning vacations or weddings, playing Guitar Hero 3 -- you can get paid for your expertise.Even if you think all you can offer is time, there are plenty of opportunities for you as well.

3. **Scan the available steps**I've listed a lot of options in the steps that follow, all of them legitimate. Pick the one that seems the best fit for you and your skills, and start exploring.

4. **Freelance Work**If you have a skill to offer, check out the various freelance sites (sometimes called 'personal outsourcing'), like elance.com and guru.com (see the Resources section for the links I mention). You can post your skills at these sites, so potential customers can check you out, and you can also look around for freelance projects that others have posted. There are tons of opportunities for freelancers, in very varied fields. Common projects, though, are writing, computer or graphics design work, creating web pages, programming, writing brochures or reports, illustration, photography, and so on.Pay can be pretty good, especially after you've earned a quality rating at one or more of the freelancing sites. At the same time, though, keep in mind that you're competing with freelancers from around the world.Take a look at the 'How Elance Works' video on their main page to get a quick overview.

5. **Try Writing Web Content**There are a quite a number of ways to take your skill as a writer and turn it into cash. One of them is right here at eHow. Write brief 'How to' articles on any topic of your choosing, and get paid for the article. The more popular the article, the more income you can expect. A good article will bring in $50 per year or more. Write 10 top-notch articles, and that's $500. A hundred articles...you get the picture.I can't say enough good things about eHow. To my mind, it is the best income generating opportunity available. Google the term 'ehow101' to learn more about how to make it work.UPDATE: eHow is now run through its parent company, Demand Media Studios (DMS). If you want to apply to write for eHow or other DMS properties, or to be an editor, check out the freelancer's application at demandmedia.com.

6. **Write Product Review**ConsumerSearch.com, a site owned by the N.Y. Times, pays freelance writers a minimum of $350 per article for product reviews. While that sounds like good money (and it is...and you can earn even more than that!), their particular brand of reviews requires good research and writing skills, and takes a lot of work. Check 'em out at consumersearch.com/jobs.

7. **More writing opportunities**--At SoftwareJudge.com, write reviews of select software products...top reviews earn up to $50 each.--Product Reviews. You may be familiar with epinions.com, but did you know they pay cash for good quality reviews. You won't get rich, but you can get started.--Suggest domain names according to site descriptions at Pickydomains.com Get $25 for each name that is chosen.--At Xomba.com, write anything you feel like, and collect 50% of any advertising income from Adsense clicks on your page.--Become a fledgling journalist at examiner.com, and cover a special topic area in your neck of the woods...they pay pretty well.--Other writing sites include associatedcontent.com, firehow.com, helium.com, and Squidoo. In fact, one of my eHow colleagues has put together a very nice Squidoo 'lens' with 101 sites where you can get paid to provide content...check it out in the Resources section.

8. **Check out Q&A Sites**I earn much of my income as an online researcher, answering folks questions on everything under the sun: investments, market research, divorce law, homework help...you name it. If this sounds like your cup of tea, here are some resources to explore:--The Association of Independent Information Professionals (aiip.org) can help you build you own Q&A website and business. I've built my research business at xooxleanswers.com, and it is a steadily growing source of income for me.--I also work with Uclue.com Though they are not accepting new researchers right now, it's worth a look to see how a well-developed Q&A site works.--Another Q&A site is JustAnswer, and they offer small payments for answers to questions.

9. **Earn money from your own blog or website**The key is to generate as much traffic as you can, and to have your visitors click on ads and affiliate links. The more people visiting your site, clicking on ads, and buying affiliate products, the more income you can earn. As good as this sounds, income is generally more a trickle than a flood. But again, steadily building your site (or sites), and building traffic, is the key to generating a steadily growing stream of income.Google Adsense is the most commonly used service for placing banner and text ads on blogs and websites. As I've learned to maximize Adsense income over the years, I've come to recognize this as one of the best income-generating opportunities available. You can also incorporate in-text ads (the colored, underlined text with small pop-up ads). I like InfoLinks.com for this, and Kontera.com is another commonly used service.Affiliate ads usually pay whenever a sale is made for a product. Amazon.com has one of the most well-known affiliate programs that all you to sell books or other Amazon products on your site or blog, and earn a cut of the sale.Other good affiliate resources are Commission Junction at cj.com, LinkShare.com, and AssociatePrograms.com.

10. **Blog With the Best of Them**If you don't have a site of your own, starting a blog is pretty easy at sites like Blogger.com, and Wordpress.com. Blogs make money through online advertising and affiliate sales, such as through the Amazon.com affiliates program. Blogger makes it very simple to automatically place Google Adsense ads on your blog. Also, at Orble.com, you can take ownership of an abandoned blog with a specific focus, like Film, or Travel, and collect a portion of the ad revenues. The advantage of this is that the blog is already well-represented in search engines, and can often generate much more traffic than a new blog of your own. See Orble under the Resource links for more information.

11. **Sell your photos**At sites like istockphoto.com and shutterpoint.com you can upload still photos or videos for sale, and receive a royalty payment every time someone makes use of your content.

12. **Take Online Surveys**I mention survey work with a good deal of trepidation...the surveys are tedious, the pay is meager, and there are many sites that are dubious, or out and out scams. The most legitimate operation I know is GlobalTestMarket.com. They offer real surveys, and they pay real money. Again...tedious, and earning takes a long, long time.CashCrate.com also pays users to take online surveys. They strike me as legitimate, but I confess, I don't have any first-hand experience with it, so approach with caution...SurveyScout.com is another possibility, but unlike CashCrate, they charge a membership fee before you can get started (Boo!). I've also heard some negative feedback from users of this site, so proceed with caution (if you proceed at all!).

13. **Teaching and Tutoring**Search on [ Online tutoring ] and you'll uncover dozens of sites in this booming corner of the internet. Many accept applications for online tutors, with variable rates and topic areas. Two to consider are tutor.com and ehomeworkhelp.com

14. **Check into online 'Jury Duty'**Here's an odd one. Lawyers looking for feedback on how a case will play before a jury can make use of online e-jury sites to solicit input from the type of average citizens that show up on juries. Yes, you get paid. Fees for complex cases can run over $50, though $20 is more typical. To serve as an online juror, check out onlineverdict.com, or trialpractice.com.Be aware, though, that none of the sites I've registered at has ever actually contacted me for a jury case, so I'm not sure just how active these services are. If anyone knows more about them, please leave a remark in the Comments.

15. **Become a virtual office assistant**At TeamDoubleClick, you can sign on for temporary jobs as an office assistant, handling correspondence, emails, bookkeeping, data entry, and other office jobs. Think of it as an online temp agency for virtual work. Pay is varied, but you are not obliged to take jobs that don't meet your financial needs.

16. **Play games**At moola.com, you can get paid to play. This is probably the strangest one yet, and I can't personally vouch for it (I've only tinkered with the site), but it looks legitimate. Moola starts you off by giving you a penny, which you can then double, and double again, through a variety of games and activities.Presumably, they make oodles of money through ads, and are willing to throw some of it your way by participating in their zany set of games and marketing gimmicks. They call themselves a 'Massively Multiplayer Rewards Game'. It's too complicated to explain here, but worth a look.

17. **Participate in crowdsource design**'Crowdsourcing' is the buzzword for getting a lot of people to do your work for you. If you're good at designing things like t-shirts, logos, fancy fonts, and other graphics, take a look at the challenges at 99designs.com and threadless.com.If your design is chosen, you can collect hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

18. **More blogging opportunities**How does $100 a month sound for writing a few blog posts every week? That's what you can be paid (actual range is $84-140) if you get accepted as a blogger at Creative Weblogging. They are a large blog network, and seem to have mastered the art of monetizing their many sites. All they need are people to write them, and keep the content fresh.UPDATE: Creative Weblogging has changed hands and is changing how -- or if -- it pays bloggers. Stay tuned for additional updates.

19. **Earn with any type of content**Blogging, articles, photos, video, you name it. Flixya offers 100% of ad revenue to anyone who posts at their website (you need to have your own Google Adsense account to participate). Words, pictures, videos, whatever ya got. Post it, bring in some traffic, and collect some ad clicks. (Haven't tried it yet myself, but Flixya has a good reputation).

20. **Just Visit**Another site that pays for content is mylot.com, but they also promise earnings everytime you use the site!. They also pay for referrals. Haven't given them a test run yet, so use them with caution, but they seem worth exploring, at least. If you have experience with them, please post a comment, below.

21. **Listen to music**At slicethepie.com, you can get paid for listening to music.Say what!!! Yep, listen to upcoming artists, and review their music. The more reviews you write -- and the better you are at spotting new talent -- the more you can get paid. Some folks are pulling in several dollars per review.

22. **Typing and Dictation**If you have good typing skills, consider Speak-Write.com, an online dictation service.

23. **Stay focused**You can participate in online focus groups at 2020research.com, where you review a product you've used, or discuss an issue of interest to you. Payment ranges from about $50-150 per session. Participants are typically asked to join a group once or twice a year.

24. **Work for Google**Ha, ha...couldn't resist. But you can earn through Google by posting content at Google Knol. This online encylopedia-like site is a place where anyone can contribute content, and you can 'monetize' your efforts by placing Adsense ads on your article to generate revenue. I wrote a Knol about eHow. You can see it by searching on the term ehow101.

25. **Review websites for usability**You can get paid for reviewing websites. Usertesting.com pays $10 per website review, where you provide feedback on quality and usability. It's not open-ended...you have to be selected to test, based on your demographic profile.

26. **Earn money reading emails**Really! Of course, there are ads involved, and you might be asked to click a few things, but it's not difficult. Expect to get 5-10 emails a day (more, if you register multiple email addresses), and earn a few pennies per email. Check out InboxDollars.com.

27. **Try a little bit of everything**Genuinejobs.com is a legitimate work-at-home (telecommuting) site that lists hundreds of jobs, none of which require a fee, and many of which can be done online. Registration is simple...worth checking out.

28. **Write for the NY Times**Really! The Times owns two sites that regularly hire writers.I already mentioned ConsumerSearch.com up above, a site that uses freelance writers to create detailed reviews of common consumer products...minimum pay is $350 per write-up, and they do a lot of hiring.About.com, another Times property, hires writers as guides. These positions, paying $725/month or more, are tough to get, but worth looking into.

29. **And don't forget...**At the risk of repeating myself, eHow is just about the best opportunity out there. Although getting on board through Demand Media Studios takes more work than at the eHow of old, it's still worth the effort.

How to Avoid Websense Proxy

1. Choose a Web proxy site from a list of proxies (see Resources).

2. Pick a service by clicking on it.

3. Type in the website you want to visit in the box on the Web proxy page. Click the button on the right to begin your anonymous browsing session. This button will either say 'Hide IP' or 'Go' or something similar.

4. Browse the site you typed in normally. At the top of the browser window you'll see a proxy tool that indicates that you're surfing anonymously. You can also use this tool to visit other Web pages via the Web proxy and the 'Go' button.

How to Develop Sell Turnkey Websites on eBay

1. Brainstorm a list of 10 to 15 website topics that you believe meet two criteria: They should be topics people are interested in, and they should be ones that do not already have thousands of websites devoted to them.

2. Use a keyword tracker like Wordtracker.com to perform your keyword research for each topic. A keyword tracker is an invaluable tool because it tells you how often people search for the keywords you have in mind, suggests related keywords, and tells you how many websites already exist that use a particular keyword or keyword phrase. The key to a successful turnkey website business is keyword research.

3. Purchase a Web hosting reseller account. Look for one that allows you to have unlimited domains on one account. You will create new turnkey websites on this Web hosting account, then include a free year of hosting in the website package when you sell it.

4. Purchase a domain name for the website. The domain name ought to include your main keywords, if possible.

5. Choose a template for the website. There are many free templates available online. Load the template into your web design software.

6. Set up an Amazon.com affiliate storefront with items relating to the topic of the website. Follow the instructions to embed your Amazon.com storefront into the website. See the Resources section of this article for a link.

7. Add any extra features you think will increase the value of the website. Some good---and free---things to include are an open-source content management system like Joomla or Drupal, to make updating the site simple for the buyer.

8. Publish the website on your Web hosting account. Load the website in your browser and verify that it loads correctly.

9. Take screenshots of the front page of the website and of the storefront pages, as well as any extra features you include in the website.

10. Create a listing on eBay for the website. Be as descriptive as possible in your listing, and be sure to mention the free year of Web hosting, the Amazon Associates affiliate account, and any other extra features you have built into the website that are included in the price of the website.

11. When the website sells, transfer ownership of the domain name, affiliate account, and any other features you included to the buyer. Immediately email the buyer with a username and password to access the Web hosting control panel. If you included a content management system, send them the username and password to administer that as well.

How to Make Money Online With Xomba

1. What is Xomba?

Xomba is an online community where you can write, share, comment, make friends and get paid. Xomba uses search engines to maximize your earnings. Unlike other online writing communities, 50% of advertising revenue on your content page is paid directly to you by Google AdSense. Xomba uses adwords advertising to generate income to you(the writer), and them (the company). In other words, Xomba does not pay you, Google Ad Sense does through the use of adwords and adwords advertising. (links below in Resources)

2. Sign up for Google AdSense (if don't have an account):

This is where you will get paid. Xoomba will not pay you. Xomba has a special code linked to all of your articles and will split your ad revenue 50-50.

3. Start Writing!

What do I write?:

Xomba has two different methods of online posting in which you can earn money.

1. Xombabytes- Posts of more than 100 words and can be anything from a blog entry, product or movie review, or how to article.2. Xombablurbs- are social bookmarks that allow you to share an intriguing link (URL) from another site. You would write a brief paragraph explaining or reviewing your URL link.Structured like Facebook, once you can navigate your way through Xomba, you will find this site interesting. As long as your posts, comments, and articles include key words from Google, you will continue to make money from Xomba. Xomba also has a refer a friend tool in which you can make money referring friends to Xomba using your own private line (within your profile page). You will receive 10% of all ad revenue for each friend that you invite.

4. Do not stop writing for other writing communities:

Here is my secret. I have tripled my earnings because I write for eHow, Bukisa, and Xomba using the same article. First, I write for eHow. Then I submit my articles for Bukisa, and Xomba. I may change them or tweak the title, but they are basically the same. Furthermore both Bukisa and Xomba have a refer a friend payout system in which you receive a small commission of your network's earnings. The key is to stay active in all three communities, write valuable articles, and help anyone who asks.

5. Submit all of your articles to search engines:

Thanks to Amarande on eHow, I have mastered the art of fast return on my articles. I do not have to wait 30-90 days for my articles to 'mature', and I can drive traffic to my articles immediately. Visit http://www.submitexpress.com/submit.html

Copy your article's URL into the allotted space on Submit Expresss, enter your email, and receive a confirmation that your URL has been accepted. Be sure to check your email as you may have to verify your URL. Submit Express submits your articles to over 20 major search engines including Google. Be sure to do this for each article on eHow, Bukisa, and Xomba. (Links are listed in Resources below).

6. Do all these steps. Don't skip one. If you do one article everyday, submit them to all three communities listed, and submit each article to Submit Express, then you will make excellent money.

How to Get Paid for Having Ads on Your Website

1. Insert pay per click ads. Pay per click (PPC) ads are ads where you get paid for the number of times that your users click ads. Google AdSense, the Yahoo! Publisher Network, and Bidvertiser are three popular services that provide pay per click revenue. Sign up for one or more of these sites, which allow you to target what types of ads you will have on your site to your user (for example, pet stores for a blog about pets), insert the code into your site and you will have ads generating revenue on your site.

2. Join a cost per mille network. Cost per mille (CPM) networks are like PPC networks, except they frequently use banner ads instead of text ads. You also get paid a certain rate for every thousand page views, rather than getting paid for every time a person clicks on your ad. CPM networks include Casale Media, Burst Media, and Value Click. Again, CPM revenue is as simple as signing up, entering in information about your website for targeting, and inserting the relevant code into your website.

3. Shop your website around for direct banner revenue. Directly selling banner space on your website works just like selling advertising in a print magazine. Go around to local businesses or other, larger websites which have similar content. Tell them why they should advertise on your website. Then quote them a price and a duration for the ad to run.

How to Use JavaScript With WordPress

1. Open up the 'header.php' file for your theme in a code editor. This file is found in the following location:/your-site/wp-content/themes/theme-name/Look for the ending

tag and check that the code

appears above any The above code uses

to tell WordPress to look inside your theme folder for the JavaScript. Many developers put all scripts into a folder called 'js' or 'src' to keep things organized. In such a case, remember to include that folder in the path to your script. All JavaScript that is directly on the page goes between tags.

3. When using a JavaSript that depends on a library such as jQuery, MooTools or YUI, you must first enqueue that library. Static HTML websites need you to include libraries as scripts, but WordPress already contains them. Here is an example of how to enqueue jQuery:

Place the enqueue code above

to make it work properly. After enqueing, you can then include JavaScripts that use that library the same way you would include other JavaScripts in WordPress.

How to Add Google AdSense to Your Website

1. Log into your AdSense account. If you don't have an account, register for one at the AdSense website (see Resources).

2. Click the tab that says 'AdSense Setup.'

3. Choose the product you want--AdSense for Content or AdSense for Search.

4. Go through the prompts for the product you selected by answering questions on things like ad format and color. Click 'Continue.'

5. Click 'Submit and Get Code' on the last page of the questionnaire.

6. Copy the HTML code that appears on the next page.

7. Paste the code between the HTML and body tags of your website template's HTML. If you are using a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver or Front Page, paste the code into the Code or Source View because pasting it in the layout view will result in HTML tags being added to your code, according to Google.

How to Add Google AdSense to Your Blog

1. Apply for an AdSense account using your Google ID or create a new Google ID for use with your AdSense account. Check your email inbox after you submit your application; Google will send an email soon after you apply, and you must click a link in the message to confirm your AdSense application and send it for review. Once submitted, it can take a few days to a week or more for the AdSense team to approve your account.

2. Log in to your AdSense account once the account is approved. Click the 'My Ads' tab on the main AdSense interface to view your AdSense ad units. You won't have any ad units yet, so click the 'Content Ads' option on the sidebar, and then click the '+New' link to begin creating a new ad unit for your blog.

3. Customize your ad unit. Give it a name, select an ad unit size, ad type, color scheme and other customization options on the 'New Ad Unit' setup page. Ideally, you should select a 728-by-90 ad unit for your initial ad unless you have another size in mind. Consult the preview pane to view changes to your ad unit as you make them. Once you are satisfied, click the 'Save and Get Code' button to save your ad unit and obtain the code that you will need to implement the ad. Click your mouse inside the box containing the ad code and press “Ctrl-A” on your keyboard to select the code if it is not already selected. Press 'Ctrl-C' to copy the code to your system clipboard.

4. Navigate to your blog and log in to the administrative dashboard or control panel. Then, open the 'index.php,' 'home.php' or similarly named file that represents your blog’s home page in your blog layout editor. If the blog is hosted on your own website, you may be able to edit the files directly from the site's file manager or via an FTP connection.

5. Look through the code on your blog page and locate the '' code that opens the header or content area of your blog. If you have specific text in your header or at the top of the content area, you can find it quickly by pressing 'Ctrl-F' to access your browser or file editor's text search function. Click at the bottom of the header code or at the top of the content area code, and then press 'Ctrl-V' to paste the ad code into your page. Save the page.

6. Load your blog in your Web browser. Take note of the position of the ad that you just inserted into the page; it should appear below the header of your blog or at the top of the content area. Make adjustments to your ad code, such as adding center-justified paragraph tags or other HTML or PHP code as needed to position the ad exactly where you want it. Google ads might not display immediately; instead, generic ads may appear until Google has properly indexed your blog to optimize ad content.

7. Create additional ad units to place in your blog, repeating the above procedure. You can add a banner ad to the left or right side of your blog's content area, or you can use 350x350 square ads to fill space between your blog roll and other sidebar content. An additional horizontal banner can be placed halfway down the screen between blog posts to increase ad visibility without overwhelming your visitors.

8. Open the PHP file that you use to generate individual blog post pages and repeat the ad placement procedure on that page, too. This will insert ads into individual blog posts, ensuring that AdSense ads will display even if visitors reach your blog from external links and don't actually view your blog’s home page.

How to Get Advertisers on a Website

1. Sign up with a service that places ads on your website. This is an easy way to keep ads coming in without having to seek out advertisers. Advertising programs like AdSense, AdWords and Kontera require that you place their ad code on your site. That code automatically generates ads on your website that correspond to the content of each page.

2. Seek out banner ads. If you look at your competitors' sites, you will likely see a number of banner ads on them. Notice what companies have sponsored those banner ads and approach those companies about advertising on your own website. You can get advertisers this way by offering a competitive rate.

3. Put a link on the website for advertisers to inquire about placing ads on the site. Include a little bit of information about your traffic and other stats to make it easy for advertisers to see whether they'd be interested in advertising on the site.

4. Have as much information about your site as possible so you can answer questions from potential advertisers. You will need to know your daily and monthly traffic, some basic demographics and the growth percentage of your site over the past few months. If you have a detailed counter that provides you with this information, keep track of what you find out. If you don't have a detailed counter, get one. They are available free of charge from multiple sources.

5. Read the three policy agreements and check the corresponding boxes to certify your adherence. Click 'Submit Information' to continue.

How to Improve Google AdSense

1. Make sure keyword tags relate to the content within the website. Someone will be less likely to click on an ad for a blender if he is visiting a site with information on how to quit smoking. They probably would click on ads related to quitting smoking, though.

2. Do not clutter your website with ads. Place ads away from content information on the website page. Users might get irritated or impatient and leave the site before further exploring other content on the website.

3. Provide more quality content for your site. Content-rich sites may keep viewers on the site for a longer time. This could increase the probability that someone will click on an ad. If your viewers don't find the information they need from your site, they might look elsewhere.

4. Increase traffic to your website. Visit online communities and let other users and friends know about your website. Visit forums about topics related to your website. IF you created a website on how to quit smoking, visiting forums on the subject and letting individuals know about your site could also increase traffic to your website.

5. Search for higher cost-per-click keywords. Use Google's adword keyword tool to find keywords that may be worth more than other keywords for your site. Higher cost-per-click keywords could increase your earnings.

6. Search for popular keywords to add into your sites. Popular keywords will generate more traffic because many individuals commonly use those keywords or phrases in search bars. For example, you could get more views from a keyword that generates 1,000,000 views a month than from a keyword less commonly used that generates only 1,000 views per month.

7. Submit your site to various search engines to index the site among the list of websites that appear in the search results. Viewers can then find your site among the search engine's list whenever they type keywords relating to your site into the search bar.

How Does Google Generate Targeted Ads?

Search Keywords

When you search for information on Google, you may have noticed a pink box with the word 'Ad' at the top of the results page. The advertisement is selected based on your search keywords. Any business can create an AdSense advertisement through Google's AdWords program. Using AdWords, business owners input the search keywords for which they want their advertisements to appear. Many advertisers compete for the most popular keywords and bid against one another hoping that their advertisement will appear most prominently.

Previous Websites

When you visit a website that displays AdSense advertisements, Google saves a tracking cookie on your computer. This cookie contains an alphanumerical string that serves as a unique ID for your computer. Using this cookie, Google is able to track each AdSense publisher that you visit and build a profile of your interests. The profile does not identify you personally; it only tracks the online activities that take place on your computer. If you visit many websites about cars, for example, you may find car-related advertisements on a website with unrelated content.

Website Content

When Google crawls a website and caches the content for its search engine, it records the keyword density of that website to determine the content. Google uses this information to provide relevant search engine results. If that website displays AdSense advertisements, Google also uses the keyword content of the website to match it with relevant, targeted ads.

Privacy

When Google collects information for targeted advertisements, it links that information to your computer, not to you personally. Google requires all publishers that display AdSense advertisements to post a privacy policy explaining how Google's tracking cookies work. If you do not want Google to track your history of searches and visited websites, opt out of this tracking through Google's Advertising and Privacy page.

How to Write Google AdWord Ads

1. Select effective keywords to use in your ad. For example, if you are advertising ways for people to attract more visitors to their websites, use words like 'traffic,' 'more' and 'increase.' Keep in mind that your headline is limited to 25 characters and the two text rows must be 35 characters with no images or colors. The last line is for your URL.

2. Capitalize the first letter of each word in your headline except for words like 'and,' 'the' and 'in.'

3. Use questions, how-to information, interesting claims or a sense of trust in the headline to pull the reader in. Some examples include 'Want More Traffic?,' 'How to Get More Traffic' and 'Secrets to More Traffic.'

4. Use ellipses at the end of your headline text to indicate that a reader will find more information on the site you are promoting. For example, 'Get More Traffic Info... .'

5. Include different keywords and phrases in the text rows of your ad. Do not use words like 'free' or 'buy.'

6. Target the ad text to keywords that would appeal to someone performing a search that's related to your product or service.

7. Remove any words that don't absolutely have to be in the ad. Be specific.

10 Google Adsense Tips

Don't Make A Site Just For AdSense

Sometimes website designers will create pages whose only purpose is host AdSense ads. Often, these sites feature language intended to attract profitable advertising, such as 'asbestos,' 'mesothelioma' and 'low interest home loans.' If fact, Google seldom directs traffic to these sites, making them money losers.

Use Non-Standard Ad Sizes

One of the main hazards to visitors clicking on your ads is 'ad blindness,' in which readers' eyes seem to wander right over your ads without seeing them. To avoid this, make your ads stand out by using non-standard ad sizes. For instance, avoid the banner ad at the top of the page, which most people stopped noticing in the late 1990s.

Place Your Ads In Heat Sensitive Spots

In their AdSense Help section---available in the References section below---Google includes a 'heat map' that shows where the human eye moves when it first encounters a web page. The map suggests the human eyes looks to the center and the upper right, making this prime real estate for ads.

Rotate Ad Schemes

If you keep your ads the same, repeat visitors will stop noticing them. Change color schemes regularly to keep your page fresh.

Use Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a great tool to know whose visiting your site and seeing your ads, allowing you to tweak content and ad placement.

Attract Traffic From Image Search Engines

While many website designers know to load their page with words that will attract traffic from search engines, many forget that image search engines are a big generator of hits as well. Add a few well-labeled images and boost your Google Image search referrals.

Use Contrasting Colors

To avoid ad blindness, make your ads pop by using ad colors that contract with your background.

Avoid Non-English Words on English Pages

Non-English words have the potential to attract non-English ads, which few English speakers will click on. Avoid them as much as possible.

Study AdSense Premium Sites

AdSense Premium sites, such as Maholo and the New York Times, receive special layout advice from an AdSense coordinator. Study their layouts for tips on maximizing ad revenue.

Follow the AdSense Terms of Service

This is an obvious one, but an astonishing number of websites don't do it. Follow the AdSense Terms of Service or prepare to be booted.

How Does Google Make Money?

Advertising

On the surface, a search engine, no matter its popularity, doesn't seem like the most profitable of ventures. You type in your query, hit enter and then find your results without making any payment. The oft-overlooked money-making machine for Google is advertising, which allows Google to make its profits off its sites and other sites that participate in Google's advertising schemes.

Sponsored Links

You may not notice it, but when you perform a search in Google, sponsored links appear on the right side of the screen. These are advertisers that make a business agreement with Google in order to get their ads displayed alongside the results of the most appropriate searches. That way, people searching for used cars may find people selling cars with the sponsored links.

Search Results

In contrast to other search engines, the sponsored links are never displayed with the other results that your search turns up. Certain search engines take money from websites so that when those websites come up in search results, they appear higher up on the results than other non-paying websites. Google refuses to do this and instead puts the ads alongside the rest of the results, clearly setting them aside as 'sponsored links.'

AdWords

Google uses an AdWords system that allows a potential advertiser to specify the search terms she would like to specify as the words that, when searched, will display her ads. A flower shop in San Francisco, for example, could have a keyword that involves the city in which it does business and type of business, such as 'San Francisco florist.'

AdSense

Because of the immense popularity of Google, plenty of customers that want to advertise on the grand frontier that is the Internet. When people pay for these advertisements, that is where Google makes the lion's share of its money. Website owners can also sign up for Google's AdSense program, which includes ads on the website that are contextually relevant. When visitors click on them, all parties make money.

A Win-Win-Win Situation

Although the idea of making money off of a search engine can be difficult to understand, it all lies in advertising, which allows everyone to benefit. Those who advertise get increased business, and Google gets the money from their payments. Consumers who search for certain products may find it easier to find what they are looking for by using the sponsored links than to pore through all of the results, so it is a win-win-win situation.
