How to Place Ads on YouTube

1. Visit the YouTube homepage. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the button labeled 'Advertising.'

2. Click on the 'Self-Service Ads' link to load the page targeted towards direct advertising on YouTube. Click 'Apply Now' to launch an AdWords account creation screen.

3. Sign in to the AdWords program with your Google account username and password. A YouTube username is a Google account and is able to be used as a log-in for AdWords account creation.

4. Select a country, time zone and currency AdWords will use. This creates your AdWords account. Log in with your Google username and password.

5. Click on the 'Create your first campaign button.' Select your general campaign settings of targeted location, bidding and budget, ad locations, ad rotation and campaign budget. Select the advance setting 'Demographic bidding' if there is a targeted YouTube audience you want to reach with your campaign.

6. Click 'Save and continue.' Create your ad campaign with an assigned title and description of the ad and then assign keywords to the campaign. These keywords match your ad campaign to the YouTube video pages it will rotate on.

7. Click the 'Select managed placement' link to open the full placement window. In the dialogue box 'Get placement ideas' enter YouTube and select the core site pages your ad should rotate within.

8. Click 'Save and continue to billing' and enter your payment information. Submit your payment information to finalize the campaign for launch either immediately or on your scheduled launch day.
