Adding UTM Tracking to the Google Base

1. Download your Products feed from Google. When you are in your “Google Analytics” page you will see the download button.

2. Open the new Products download with Microsoft Excel.

3. Insert a column next to your Product URL on the worksheet. Do this from the “Insert” drop down menu and choose “add a column.”

4. Enter the tracking code on the top cell of the newly inserted column. The tracking code should read: “?utm_source-google&utm_medium-Product_Search&utm_campaign-google_base”.

5. Drag your new code cell up to the last row of the product URL.

6. Insert a column to the right of the URL tag column. This is where you will enter your formula.

7. Choose “function” from the “insert” drop down menu.

8. Pick “Concatenate” from the texting formula menu. This allows you to merge information.

9. Choose the cells you wish to merge so your URL adds on the URM tag such as E2,F2.

10. Copy the result of the merged information into Word or Notepad so you have an exact copy.

11. Delete the two new columns you inserted, as you no longer need them.

12. Copy the information from Word or Notepad, wherever you put it and then paste it in the URL column. This now adds your UTM information to your analytics.

13. Save your excel spreadsheet and upload it to Google Base via the analytics page. Now the UTM tags have been added to your entire URL.
