How to Get Paid to Write
1. Know your strengths when it comes to writing. This includes the style of writing you excel at, as well as the specific content.
2. Create a writing resume. Include any writing experience, skills and degrees that you may have.
3. Write some sample pieces. Be consistent with the area of writing you have decided to pursue.
4. Search for writing jobs online. here are several websites that are dedicated to helping writers find jobs.
5. Visit sites like Craigslist to post a resume and/or advertisement of your writing services. Let people know what you have to offer. This is a fast, easy and quick way to get the word out.
6. Check revenue-sharing websites like Associated Content and eHow. Payments will be based on view counts, but the possibilities are endless.
7. Consider beat writing. If you have expertise in an area, there are plenty of websites that will pay you for your knowledge. About.com is an excellent website that pays its writers regularly as long as they follow certain requirements.
8. Maximize blogging potential. There are several different ways to make money writing about anything you want on your own blog. Check out Google Adsense and Clickbank. Both websites feature explanations of how they work and how you can use them.
9. Submit some pieces to some of your favorite magazines. Contact the magazines to find out what sort of pieces they are looking for, and according to what schedule.
10. Go the local newspapers. See if they are hiring writers or accepting new freelancers. If they give you an assignment, take them up on it and go for the gold.
11. Ask around. If you know anyone who can help you find a writing opportunity, ask him. Much writing work comes via word-of-mouth.
