Google AdSense Strategies Tips
Create an Attractive Website
According to the official AdSense blog, advertisers like attractive websites. AdSense has a site targeting option. Advertisers use this option to choose where their ads appear. Instead of appearing on random websites, an ad placed with site targeting appears on specified websites. Your goal as an AdSense publisher is to attract advertisers. A well-designed, attractive website increases your chances of meeting that goal.Things to avoid include bright-colored text on a black background. Black text on a white background is easier on the eyes. Avoid using more than two fonts on one page. The more professional your website looks, the more advertisers it attracts.
Target a Specific Subject
AdSense scans each page of your website for keywords. If the word 'tennis' appears 10 times on one page, the program assumes the page is about tennis. You then receive ads related to tennis. Multiple topics on one page confuse the program. When AdSense can't find the focus of a page, it doesn't know which ads to serve. As a result, you receive random or public service ads that result in little, if any, money.Using one subject per page or website makes it easy for AdSense. A tennis website could have separate pages about tennis rackets, tennis players and tennis balls. The topics are varied, but the overall subject remains the same.
Use Blue Links
Instead of traditional blue links, you can pick any color from red to bright green. The AdSense Code by AdSense expert Joel Comm states that nonblue links get fewer clicks. Website visitors expect blue links and are less likely to click or notice nonblue links. Comm performed a color test on several of his websites. After changing blue links to random colors, ad click rates decreased on all websites. Clicks increased when Comm changed the links back to blue. He estimates using blue links can result in a 25 percent increase in clicks.
Place Ads Above the Fold
'Above the fold' is a term used to describe the top half of a page. When you first land on a Web page, the viewable area is above the fold. The entire area is visible without scrolling up and down or left and right. According to an article on UseIt.com, website visitors spend 80 percent of their time reading above the page fold. Information below the fold receives less attention. AdSense ads above the fold are more likely to attract clicks.
Advertise the Website
A website needs traffic to earn AdSense revenue. It's a mistake to think people will stumble onto your website. You might get some visitors that way, but not enough to earn significant money from AdSense. Article marketing is one way to generate traffic. Write and submit articles to websites in your niche that accept guest posts. At the end of each article, put a link to your website. Placing a promotional video on a website like YouTube attracts traffic as well.
