How to Create an Event Calendar Business Website
1. Find a niche. Your event website must have a theme, preferably something of interest to you. Overly generic websites tend to have trouble with search engine optimization due to a lack of focused keywords, and end up lost in cyberspace.
2. Hire a consultant if necessary. If you have a direction and a style, but no means of actually creating a website, find somebody whose portfolio includes websites with similar content and functionality. Or, if you're doing it yourself, lighten the code load by using a popular website engine like WordPress and basing the calendar functionality on a free plug-in.
3. Advertise your completed website for free on sites like craigslist to generate traffic. In the beginning, you may have to scour newspapers and other sources to add events to the calendar yourself. As your website grows, users will begin to submit content themselves.
4. Generate revenue by placing advertisements on your site with free advertising and affiliate programs such as Google Adsense and Commission Junction. If your site is local, you may be able to sell direct ads to local businesses; the profit margins on such sales are much higher than affiliate or pay-per-click programs.
