How to Make a Webpage Searchable
1. Add search to your web site when using CMS software by logging into the back end. This varies depending on the package. CMS software includes Wordpress, MovableType, Joomla and Drupal.Add the search function to a side bar of your template. For Wordpress, click on 'Appearance' and 'Widgets.' Drag the Search widget to your sidebar box. For MovableType, Joomla and Drupal, search is included with the basic installation and theme.Get extra search plug-ins and extensions by downloading them from the CMS website and then uploading them in your CMS plug-in or extensions folder.
2. Choose a third-party search engine provider. Enter the address of the website and your email address. Copy the code given to you by selecting it and pressing 'Ctrl' and 'C.' Paste the code as directed by the third party site on your webpage.
3. Create an account with a search engine such as Google or Bing. Provide an email address, your name and URL. Customize your search options to match the look of your website according to the prompts. Copy the code provided and paste the code on your webpage.
