How to Make Shiny Texts in Photoshop CS5



Apply a Style to Text

1. Start a new Photoshop document by clicking the 'File' menu and choosing 'New.' This opens the New dialog box. Set the size of the canvas by changing the values in the 'Width' and 'Height' fields. For example, to create a canvas of 300 by 150 pixels, type '300' in the Width field and '150'in the Height field.

2. Select the Text Tool, the 'T' icon, in the tools panel.

3. Set the font, font style, and size in the Options panel beneath the menu bar.

4. Click in the canvas to insert the cursor then type the desired text.

5. Click the 'Window' menu and choose 'Styles.' This opens the Styles panel. The default styles contain several presets that contain shiny effects, as indicated by the icons. The icons display what the effect looks like.You can access additional styles trough the Preset Manager. Click the Panel Options menu, located in the upper-right corner of the Styles panel, and choose 'Preset Manager.' This opens the Preset Manager dialog box. Click the 'Preset Type' drop-down menu and choose 'Styles.' Click the 'Load' button on the right side of the Preset Manager dialog box. This opens the 'Load' dialog box.Photoshop comes with three sets of styles: buttonStyles, FlashObjects, and untitledStyles. All three contain several shiny-effect styles. To load all three sets into the Styles panel, click the first set in the list, and then SHIFT + click the last set in the list. This selects all three sets. Click the 'Load' button.

6. Scroll through the list of styles until you find one you like, then click it. This applies the style to the text. To try a different style, click it, and so on, until you find one you like.

7. Click the 'Window' menu and choose 'Layers.' This opens the Layers panel.

8. Double-click the layer containing your text. This opens the Layer Style dialog box. This dialog box has many options for modifying the style effect. For example, you can use Inner Glow and Outer Glow to apply a glow effect. Use Bevel and Emboss to create metallic and chiseled effects. To see the effect as you make changes, click the check box beside 'Preview.'

9. Make the desired changes in the Layer Style dialog box, and then click 'OK.'
