How to Calculate Revenue Maximization

Three Steps to Revenue Maximization

1. Determine who your customers are. A convenience store’s customers might consist of people driving by the store. Our convenience store owner should determine the distinct characteristics of these customers. Are they travelers or commuters? What is their most frequented destination? Travelers driving to Wichita, Kan., might have different needs than morning commuters going downtown. Most customers would not drive too far out of their way to find a convenience store, location is extremely important for maximizing revenue.A clothing store’s customers might also consist of foot traffic, but potential customers could be anyone attracted to the store’s styles. A clothing store owner would want to determine gender, age, size, and cultural preferences of customers. The owner could then purchase a mailing list from a marketing firm to send out catalogs.

2. Determine the most effective advertising media. Communicating with your customers requires learning when and where they might want to purchase your product. Our convenience store owner may determine that his customers purchase his product while driving in their cars. He might benefit most from purchasing billboard advertisements. Our clothing store owner might determine that her customers are career-minded women in their mid-20s. She learns that over 50 percent of this demographic group has a Facebook page. Therefore, she might create a Facebook page for the store, or, purchase advertising space from Facebook. Most businesses, regardless of what type of advertising is chosen, should set up a website where customers may find out more information about your product. Other types of media are radio, newspaper, television, email, and telemarketing.

3. Determine the right price for your product. Determine how much control you have over the price of your product. This requires defining your competitive market. There are four types of competitive markets: monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition, and perfect competition. Monopolies exist when there is one supplier. In many communities, the local power company may be the only option for electricity, meaning that the power company has a monopoly over that market. An oligopoly is when there are few suppliers in the market. One example of an oligopoly is the cola industry. While there are several smaller suppliers, the market is dominated by Pepsi and Coca-Cola. Monopolistic competition is an industry where there are many suppliers with slightly differentiated products. The t-shirt industry is an example of monopolistic competition. There are many t-shirt companies that sell t-shirts with slightly different features. Perfect competition is an industry where there are many suppliers selling identical products. An example of perfect competition is the stock market. A share of Microsoft stock is the same product no matter who the stockbroker is. The lone company in a monopoly has the most control over its price, while the company participating in a perfectly competitive market has virtually no control over price. Most companies fit in a monopolistic competitive market. Our convenience store owner participates in a market close to perfect competition. While he might be able to distinguish his store slightly from his competitor across the street by offering cleaner bathrooms and homemade cinnamon rolls, he cannot price his fuel higher, as customers do not differentiate this product. However, our clothing store owner, who participates in monopolistic competitive market, must do more research to determine the best price for her products. She can research competitors with similar customers and products to determine best price, or she can test the market by offering different prices for the same item to determine which price maximizes sales dollars.

How to Change the Spacing After Removing the Sidebar in WordPress

1. Log in to WordPress and select 'Editor' from the 'Appearance' theme. Click the 'Stylesheet.css' file.

2. Scroll down to 'Content.' Peruse the sub-division for the name of the 'div' that bordered the side bar when you had it on the page. If the sidebar sat on the right, this is likely to be 'contentleft;' while if you deleted a sidebar that was on the left side of the page, the div in question was 'contentright.'

3. Open the 'page.php' file. Scroll down to the element that specifies parameters for the div you need to change, be it or and add the follow element within the brackets:style='width: 920px;'So that it looks like this:Click 'Save.'

4. Click 'Save.' Open the blog in a new window or tab to see that the main section of the page now occupies its entire width.

Google Ads Information

Google AdWords

Adwords is Google's advertising program for advertisers to place their ads on the Internet. Advertisers can choose to have their ads placed only on the Google search website, or on the network of AdSense websites. Advertisers pay a fee to Google each time someone clicks on their ads. This is called 'pay-per-click' advertising. Advertisers select keywords for their ads, and bid on how much they are willing to pay. When someone searches on Google, ads relating to the keywords the visitor typed are shown above the search results and on the sidebar of the Web page. Advertisers with the highest bids are given priority.

AdWords Policies

Google requires that its AdWords advertisers comply with guidelines in the phrasing of ads. Google requires that ads are clear and accurately describe what they are advertising. Ads that do not adhere to the guidelines will be rejected. For example, words must be spelled correctly. The ads must also use acceptable grammar and spacing. Misleading ads are also unacceptable to Google. For example, if a product is being advertised in an ad, the product must be available on the website it links to.

Google AdSense

AdSense is Google's program for publishers who want to place ads on their Websites. Publishers can decide what types of ads are placed on their websites. Choices include text ads or images, banners, boxes, and search fields. Publishers decide where the ads are going to appear on their web pages. They can also filter out ads from specific advertisers, including competitors. Ads placed on the web pages are matched with the content of the page. When a visitor to the website clicks on one of the ads, Google shares a portion of the revenue they receive with the website publisher.

AdSense Policies

Google has strict policies for publishers using AdSense. If a publisher violates the policies they can be banned from AdSense. Publishers cannot click on ads on their own web pages. They cannot encourage visitors to click on ads. Google also has policies on what types of websites can contain AdSense ads. For example, ads cannot be placed on pages that contain, or that link to sites that contain, pornography, violent content, pages promoting racial intolerance or illegal activity and sites that sell drugs, alcohol or tobacco.

Adwords Costs and AdSense Revenue

The cost of running AdWords ads varies widely, from a few cents per click to over ten dollars, depending on the keywords you are targeting. Generally, the more often a word or phrase is searched for on Google, the more expensive the ad will be. Google will provide estimates based on the keywords you are targeting. In AdSense, the amount you earn for each click is a percentage of what the advertiser pays. At the time of publication, this is 68 percent for content ads, and 51 percent for search ads. Google provides publishers with a daily report showing page views, clicks and revenue.

How to make extra money online

1. Ehow is a reputable and free site where you can share your knowledge with other members and make money. It is a slow process, but over time you can make a decent chunk of extra money. All you have to do is sign up for the writer's compensation program (WCP) and write 'How To' articles. These articles can be as simple as 'How to brush your teeth' to as complex as 'How to Build a Detached Garage'. I have been doing this sporadically for several months. I made about $17 in the first few months but I have less than 20 articles posted. The more articles you post and the more active you are in the Ehow community, then the more money you will make. Check out my other articles on Ehow.

2. Start your own website. You could sell products and services or just post information and make money from advertisements on your site. Sign up for Google Adsense and you can make money when visitors click on your ads. I created a free website on FreeWebs.com. There are many free web hosting services out there. You can do a Google search or even an Ehow search to find more free sites.

3. Start your own blog and use Google Adsense so you can make money when visitors click on your ads. You can write about anything you want. Check out the different blogging sites that I have listed on my personal website listed below in the Resources section. Check out Xomba in the resources section. It is a very popular blogging site so you should get a decent amount of traffic.

4. Sell items on Ebay. This is the most obvious choice, but there are so many opportunities to make money on Ebay. Find a niche that works for you or sell old stuff around the house.

5. Sign up for a seller account on Amazon.com. Sell your old college books and regular books on Amazon to make some extra money and get rid of some of the clutter in the house.

6. Sign up on DayTipper.com. This is a new site for me so I am still testing it out. I have posted one tip and it was approved. When it is published, I should receive a one-time $1 payment. This tip only took me 2 minutes to write. If you are creative, you could really make some quick cash.

7. Sign up on Epinions.com. You get paid to write your opinion about different things. I have signed up for this site and submitted one review. Reviews must be at least 200 words to qualify for income share. I will continue to test this site out and provide more information at a later time.

8. If you are artistic then sign up for CafePress.com. You can upload your artwork and set up a store. You can choose which items you would like to have your artwork printed on like t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, etc. The website supplies all the products so you don't pay anything and you earn a very nice commission when your product sells. Ehow member AlmondSpecial was kind enough to share this in my comments section. Please check out her article about CafePress in the Resources section.

9. Etsy.com - This site allows you to buy or sell any handmade items. Check it out. You could sell homemade jewelry, clothing, t-shirts and more. I have not used this site, but it is reputable and has a broad range of opportunities.

10. Lulu.com - this site allows you to upload your digital creations. It can include photos, artwork, or even a manuscript. I have not tried this site, but it is reputable as well.

11. Sign up for Hubpages. You can write articles and receive money for Google Adsense, and also for signing up to be an affiliate for Amazon and eBay. You can really make some money here. See the links below for some great articles that were written on HubPages about earning extra money.

12. Find a legitimate work-at-home job to supplement your income. This can be anything from data entry to freelance computer programming. I have compiled an 8 page list of resources and information regarding this topic. Since it is too much to fit into this article, I have supplied the link 'Work-at-Home Jobs' under resources.

5. Select and copy the script code snippet from the dialogue box.
