How Does Google Adsense Monitor Clicks for Invalid Clicks?
IP Address Checking
Every time you log in to your Google Adsense account to edit your information or check your site's statistics, Google records the IP address of the computer you are using. Then, if a high number of ad clicks come from the same IP address, Google will usually flag your Adsense account since there is evidence that you are clicking on your own site's ads. Even if you log out of your Adsense account before clicking on ads, your IP address does not change and Google will likely consider all clicks from that IP address as invalid.
Internet Cookies
When you click on an advertisement hosted by Google Adsense, an Internet cookie is placed on your computer to track your activity on the advertised site. As a result, Google can use the cookie information to see if you are clicking on a high number of ads or clicking on the same ad multiple times. If this is the case, Google will usually mark those clicks as invalid.
Click-Through-Rate
Each Google Adsense advertisement that you place on your website tracks two different statistics: page impressions and clicks. Every time a page with an Adsense ad is loaded or reloaded in a web browser, another page impression is counted. A click is only recorded when a web visitor actually clicks on the advertisement and views the associated page. The click-through-rate is determined by dividing the number of clicks by the number of page impressions. If Google finds that your pages have an abnormally high click-through rate (usually more than 10 percent), your account may be flagged and checked for invalid clicks.
How to Earn Money From Home Through the Internet
1. Tutor people online. Go to sites such as Tutor and E Tutor. You may need a degree depending on the site you are working with. If you like to teach people and have expertise in a certain area, this can be a good way to earn money.
2. Become a freelance writer. Many people are earning money by freelancing their writing. You can earn from $5 to $25 per article depending on the site. If you have ever written an essay for school then you can succeed with writing articles online. Break studios is one site that pays you for writing content. Make sure you have a writing sample in case you are asked for one.
3. Build a website to earn passive income. Create a website and make money from Internet ads. You can get ads from Google by applying at Google Adsense. Every time an ad on your site is clicked, you will earn money. Affiliate marketing is another way to earn income from your website. Affiliate marketing is the process of referring a customer to another business. For example, you can have links on your page that sends visitors to eBay's website to buy shoes, and you will earn money when someone purchases something on eBay. Ebay would be giving you a commission because you brought it business. You can apply for affiliates through sites like Share A Sale. The key to making money from advertisements and affiliate marketing is by getting traffic. If your traffic is low it will be difficult to earn money from this.
4. Sell your books, DVDs and even clothes on sites like Amazon or eBay. These sites will take a percentage from your profit from the sale. When you list an item, make sure you give an honest description and mail the item as soon as possible so that you can get positive feedback. The more positive your feedback is the more likely people will want to buy things from you.

How to Optimize Google Ads
1. Use channels. Create channels for different locations on your site such as 'sidebar' and 'footer.' Place each ad into a separate channel so you can compare the performance. Anytime you make a change to an ad, make a new channel for it so you can compare the new and old performance.
2. Use the 336x280 Large Rectangle, 300x250 Medium Rectangle, and the 160x600 Wide Skyscraper formats. According to Google, these are the most effective ad formats.
3. Optimize the color palettes of your ads. This can be accomplished by blending or contrasting. Blending would make your ads use the same colors as your site, making them more attractive to your visitors. Contrasting would make your ads use opposite colors, making them stand out to your visitors. Each method can be effective so experiment using channels to find out which works best for you.
4. Use image ads. When creating a new ad, make sure you select 'text and image' to rotate between the two. This will allow Google to display the most effective ads on your site.
5. Place your ads in the optimal locations. Google has done the research for you and found out what the best locations to place ads are. Check the resources section for more information.
6. Use customized search through Google. When a user uses your customized search bar, Google will display ads to them based on what they were searching for. This grants you an additional revenue stream. This is especially useful if your site has a lot of information users might need to search for. Take full advantage.
7. Experiment with the location, colors and formats of your ads. You can track the performance with channels and always change them back. Ads you create with Google Adsense are never deleted.
