2. Focus on the reason you would like to start a blog. Some people blog to become semi-famous on the Internet, some blog for fun while others blog to help their careers.
3. Sign up for a blog with a blogging service. There are many to select from; two of the most popular are Blogger and Live Journal.
4. Register for Google AdSense for your blog. They will place appropriate targeted advertisements on your blog and you will earn money every time someone clicks on an advertisement.
5. Consider signing up for a blog through Blog It Live, 451 Press or Soulcast. These sites promise to help bring traffic to your blog, which will help people click on Google AdSense advertisements.
6. Look into paid posting opportunities such as the Pay Per Post website and Pay U 2 Blog. Each of these will pay you for posting an advertisement or opinion about a product on your blog.

How to Calculate Revenue Per Share
1. Determine the company's revenue. Revenue will be one of the top lines on a company's income statement. For example, a company has revenues of $500,000.
2. Calculate the average number of common shares outstanding during the year. Companies disclose outstanding common shares on their statement of stockholders' equity. For example, at the beginning of the year, the company had 500 shares outstanding, then at the end of the year, the company had 550 shares outstanding. The average share outstanding for the year would be 525 shares.
3. Divide the company's revenue for the year by the average common shares outstanding for the year to determine the revenue per share ratio. In the example, $500,000 divided by 525 common shares is $952.38.
How to Make Money From a Hobby Website
1. Start by creating a website that focuses on your hobby. Maintaining a website can be time-consuming, so start small and add content on a regular basis.
2. Sign up for affiliate programs with merchants that sell products related to your hobby. Writing reviews or allowing your users to add comments is a great way to drive traffic and sell merchandise. This method produces much better results than covering your website with banner ads.
3. Write what you know and invite friends who share your hobby to include content of their own. Users come to an informational website to find answers, thus it's your job to provide solutions, be it tips, how-to information or products and services that you believe work best. Content that answers questions and makes users want to explore more of your site is key to success.
4. Beef up your ability to make money by placing contextual advertising on your website. Several search engines have highly targeted ads and share the revenue with you when your users click on the advertisement. See Resources for Google opportunities.
5. Drive traffic to your website by employing search engine-friendly content. Search engines are how people find your website and you want as many visitors as possible. You can also place advertising on search engines by targeting keywords that match topics of interest related to your hobby website.
6. Expand into broader areas of topic or sites dedicated to a separate hobby or field of knowledge. Once you get the knack of maintaining a website, you can begin to grow your network to make more money.

How to Earn More with AdSense
1. Attract relevant ads by keeping the keywords on your website thorough. For example, if your website is about 'international adoption' and you frequently use the word 'adoption' you may get ads for lots of different types of adoptions, including pet adoptions. It's best to use the complete term, 'international adoption.' This way you will get relevant ads that pertain to your reader's interests.
2. Place your Google AdSense ads strategically near your content. As people are reading your content, they will look at what is nearby, but they will not scroll down the screen to look at an ad.
3. Try blending your ads in with the background on your website. People are sometimes less likely to click on an ad that looks like an ad, but if it looks like a part of your website, they may click. Google AdSense provides different palettes that will allow you to change the format of the ad.
4. Create pages with content that has great value to your reader. The more the reader gets from your page, the more likely he is to click on one of the Google AdSense ads. If your page does not provide new information, then the reader is less likely to click on the ad.
5. Consider placing ads near the top left of your screen. There is research to suggest that this is where people look first when they go to a website.
6. Use the Google AdSense preview tool to see how your ad looks before you put it on your site.
