How to Set Up Local Ads
1. Set up a budget to determine how much money you have available to contribute towards advertising. Disperse the funds available based on where you feel your ad will prove to be the most beneficial, based on what you are offering and your target market, or more specifically target audience.
2. Start a website. Starting a website can be a low-cost option that will go the farthest. You can use your website to set up ads, display information, special offers and contact information. Starting a website is also a good way to gather your own research. Do this by implementing a tracking feature, where you can ask visitors to indicate how they heard about your website. This will help you to determine which ad is generating the most exposure and make changes, if needed.
3. Contact merchant magazines in your area and investigate other community advertisements. Displaying an ad on a community calender or in a local business magazine is an inexpensive way to reach potential clients. In addition, speak with staff members at your local community center, shopping malls and grocery stores as they may have an area where you can post your ad for free.
4. Post an ad in the newspaper to reach a large audience for a low cost. Keep in mind these sources are more likely referred to by older populations. Therefore, if your target audience is for consumers under the age of 30, this may not prove to be as fruitful as you may like.

How to Increase Your CPM
1. Give your ads key position. Successful advertising depends largely upon the location of the ad. The most valuable real estate on a website is the area referred to as 'above the fold,' meaning the part of a page a user can see without having to scroll down. Placing ads in this area will increase the probability that they will be clicked on, thereby increasing the value of the ad displays you are serving.
2. Keep the ads relevant. Displaying ads that are somehow related to the subject matter on the page is a great way to make sure the advertisement is seen by a targeted audience of people. Athletic products, for example, can be successfully advertised on sites related to health and fitness. Because the audience has a known interest in the subject, you want to display ads that relate to their interest.
3. Blend your text ads into the content of the site. Text-based advertising is very popular, but can sometimes be overlooked by website visitors. Blending the advertisements with font colors and styles that match the rest of your website will allow the ads to look like just any other content. Visitors will view the ads more as additional references than as advertisements, and will be more likely to follow the link.
4. Consider geotargeting your advertisements. If you are part of an ad network that supports the feature, geotargeting allows you to serve ads based on the visitors location. This allows you to offer special promotions to visitors from a certain area, or to make sure a particular advertiser's ads are only shown within the areas they serve. Geotargeting makes the advertisements more relevant to the user on a local level and can lead to higher click-through rates.

How Do I Sign Up to Post Google Links From Home?

2. Create an account with your name, email and contact information. Google requires this information for payment processing and tax reporting. Google AdSense allows two options for payment via an electronic fund transfer to your bank or via a bank draft (check). Google payments 'are issued within 30 days after the end of the month in which your unpaid earnings reach $100.00.'
3. Provide your site's domain and Web address to your Google AdSense account. This will automatically give the needed permissions for Google to provide ads on your site. You will be required to agree to all terms and conditions as well as Google's privacy notice and payment terms.
4. Enable Google AdSense on your blog or Web page. While some website services offer the option to enable this in your settings, others do not. You will be provided a code to insert into your Web design page in this case. Location of code posting depends on the Web design program you are using.

How to Set Up a Website and Make Money
1. Develop a business idea for a website conducive to monetization. Identify a niche that you have interest in and can write about on a consistent basis. Do research to identify if it's a feasible, considering your competition and your client. Will you be able to break into the top 20 on search engine results? Will the people interested in your website convert to customers of the products you represent?
2. Select a domain name for your website. To help your on-page search engine optimization (SEO), choose a domain name that includes your keyword, the main idea of your site. Purchase a domain URL from a domain registration site. Buy a .com if available. If .com is not available to purchase, buy a .net or .org, in that order of preference.
3. Select a platform or software to build your blog on, whether free standing, where you have to have a hosting company host your account for you---or an online structure, where they host it for you. Many online hosted blogs will not allow self-monetization. Many cable Internet accounts include a website with the cost of your account. Investigate which avenue is best in your application.
4. Set up your blog or website and add content to get it indexed by the Google bot. Displaying content, and ranking on the search engines, ensures that readers will find you; without readers, you have no one to convert into customers. Write good quality articles that add value to your reader's time on your site.
5. Sign up for affiliate accounts. Affiliates are people that promote other site's products. You can use companies that represent a large number of affiliate-seeking sites or search for individual sites that list 'Affiliates' at the bottom of their homepage. Once approved as an affiliate, companies will email you where to locate their ads and how to direct people to them with your own personal identifying affiliate link. Clicking on your ad sends your readers to an area on the affiliate site, and you are rewarded with a commission when they make a purchase.
6. Sign up for a Google Adsense account. When you add their code to your website, Google will run ads on your website tailored to your site and content. When your readers click on those ads, readers are directed to where they may purchase that item and you are rewarded with a predetermined fee. You do not have to keep track of anything, Google does all that, and they send you a check when you have earned a minimum amount by the means you select.
7. Start an eBay affiliate account. An eBay account works similarly to Google Adsense. Once approved, you add the eBay code to your site, and they will then add text ads that lead your readers from your website to eBay auctions that are relevant to your content. You receive a commission every time one of your readers buys the displayed auction.
