How to Make Money With Banner Advertising on Your Website
1. Define the subject and objectives of your website to determine the types of businesses you would like to advertise on your website. Banner ads perform best on websites that display content related to the product or service being advertised. Review your content and create a specific statement of what your website is about, what its objectives are and what businesses are related to the content displayed.
2. Find affiliate programs to join either by contacting individual companies or by joining a website such as Commission Junction, Clickbank or Google Adsense. Normally, if a website offers an affiliate program there is a link for more information in the footer of its website. Apply through the affiliate website to join an affiliate program. While some programs automatically approve all who apply, there are some that manually review applications and approve only those with websites that offer content related to their products or services.
3. Determine where the best positions are on your website for the banner advertisements. Banner advertisements generally get more clicks if they are placed above the fold. The fold is the portion of the website that appears without scrolling. This includes within the header, left and right sides and between paragraphs within the content.
4. Avoid cluttering your page by displaying too many advertisements. While it can be tempting to display as many advertisements to increase chances that visitors will click on one, displaying too many can be overwhelming so visitors either will skip that section or page altogether. Visitors must be able to read the content easily and clearly, without too many distractions from advertisements or they will quickly move off your website before having the chance to click on your advertisements.
5. Ensure that your webpage loads quickly and that visitors see the banners immediately when the page loads. Placing too many banner ads can result in the webpage loading slowly, causing a delay in visitors seeing the advertisements or even the page's content, especially if the site's content includes images and videos. If you decide to have several banners on your webpage, select static banners instead of ones with dynamic codes, or that use Flash technology. Visitors that reach a webpage that takes too long to load are more likely to exit rather than wait, or will read the entire webpage content before ads are finished loading.

How to Profit From a Website
1. Monetize your website with Google AdSense. It's free to sign up, and once you are approved, you can start displaying Google Ads on your website. It only takes a few minutes to set it up, thus you can start earning right away. The ads will try to match your website content, thus increasing the likelihood that people will click on the ads and you will get paid.
2. Add affiliate links to your web pages. If you haven't done affiliate marketing before, start with Amazon and/or ClickBank. It's free to sign up for both, and you can choose from a wide variety of products to recommend on your website. If your links get clicked and result in sales, you earn commissions.
3. Get a donate button on your website. If you are offering valuable info that you update frequently or a useful program for a free download, people might be inclined to donate some money to support your efforts. You can set up a donate button through PayPal very easily.
4. Promote your website. If no one ever visits your website, you won't profit from it. Thus put some effort into getting the word out. You can put links in your signatures in your email and any forums you frequent, your social networking pages, etc.

What Is the Meaning of Impression in Google AdSense?
Page Impressions
Page impressions in Google AdSense tell you how many times each ad unit has been loaded. If you have three ad units on a particular Web page, when a browser loads up that page, AdSense registers one impression for each ad unit (assuming they all loaded correctly). Because of this, overall AdSense impressions are not a suitable proxy for Web traffic in general, but along with other stats they can be used to get a good idea of how individual ad units are performing.
Page eCPM
Effective cost per thousand impressions, or eCPM, is a way of calculating how much each ad unit or channel earns for every 1,000 impressions it receives. If the ad unit has not yet received 1,000 impressions, this figure is an estimate based on the impressions it has received so far. If it has received more than 1,000 impressions, this figure is the average of all impressions. eCPM is a useful way of comparing AdSense units against each other to see which might bring in the most revenue.
Page CTR
Although eCPM is a good way of estimating earnings, there are some flaws to using it alone. For example, if an ad unit has a high eCPM but a low number of actual ad clicks, this performance might not be stable over longer periods of time. You might have just been lucky with a few high-earning clicks. This is where CTR comes in; it tells you the percentage of clicks the ad unit gets based on its total number of impressions.
Considerations
Impressions alone do not provide much actionable data, as alone they can tell you nothing about earnings or the amount of clicks they get. CTR and eCPM can provide this information, but they too have limitations since they tell you about the overall performance of the ad unit and not the specific pages that the revenue comes from, unless they have been manually placed on a single page. For this information, AdSense must be linked to Google Analytics.

How to rank high in Google maps local results
1.
Google maps is a search feature offered by search giant Google. There are other search engines doing this, like Yahoo, but Google really has the technology dialed in. Think of Google maps as search 2.0.1.What you need to understand first is that ALL search results on maps is displayed in a distinct order.
2.
**First, the display will show all the Google AdSense PPC (Pay Per Click) ads.** These are the ads that are paid for by advertisers to be up there on top. These folks have either paid or are paying for a specific keyword or key phrase to point to them.
3.
**Second, the display will show the Maps local results.**
This is where YOU come in. These are businesses like yours in the same geographic area. To add to the mix, the local results are shown in relation to the center of town.
The closer you are to the center of town, the higher your business will display. Remember, 'location, location, location!'
The results radiate from the town center like spokes of a wheel.
4.
**Third, the display will show the 'generic' search results.**
These are the folks who are listed with Goggle and just show up in results that are relative to yours. By relative, I mean that if you are a DJ business, then all the organic DJs will pop in here at the bottom.
5.
Let's start.
First, you need a Google account. Go sign up and come back. I'll wait here cuz I have nowhere to go.
6.
There you are! I was getting worried there!
OK. Log into your account and look for the 'add new listing' button. Once you hit that button, the system will guide you through the information. All basic stuff like address, business name and so on.
7.
Make sure all the info is correct and click the button marked 'Add your listing'. Now we see the power of technology.
Google is going to verify your identity now. They do this in one of two ways. A phone call or a postcard. I always use the phone call as it is WAY faster.
8.
If you select the phone call, they will call the number you entered in the listing. You can choose to have them call you 1) right now, or 2) in 5 minutes. Select which one you want and Google will display a PIN number. When the call comes in, follow the prompts and enter the PIN. BE SURE YOU DO IT CORRECTLY!
9.
If you select to verify by postcard, it takes three weeks to get done. Imagine all the customers you could find in three weeks!
When the card comes, it will have a blank space for a PIN code. This is the one that you were given when you signed up, so I hope you saved it! Write it in and send the card back to Google.
They will get it, verify it and open your listing. You will be visible immediately.
10.
If you ever need to edit any of the information, you will have to verify your identity each time. This is to ensure you don't get your identity stolen or your listing stolen. This is why I say to do the phone call. It is much faster and easier.
