How to Change the Bank Account Information on Google Merchant Services

1. Sign in to Google Checkout. Log on to checkout.google.com and enter your email or password. If you are already signed into your Google account, via Gmail Google Docs or any other service provided by the portal, you will not need to sign in again and will be automatically presented with your home screen when you log on to the Google Checkout page.

2. Click the 'Settings' tab. In the new window, click on 'Financials.' Now click on 'Change Account' to revise an existing bank account. You will see numerous fields populated with the bank account information you have previously entered. You need to change only the information in the fields where the present data is no longer accurate. In the field labeled 'Account type' select among checking, savings, or corporate account depending on what kind of account you have. Next, enter the name of your bank in the filed labeled 'Bank name.' Now go to the field titled 'Routing number' and enter your bank's 9-digit routing number. This number is printed on your checks. In the next field, named 'Account number' enter the number of your account. This number, too, can be found on your checks and is usually located immediately after the routing number. Finally, re-type your account number into the field titled 'Re-type account number.' Check all the information you have just entered and click on 'Save financials.'

3. Check your bank account for a transfer from 'Google Deposit.' To ensure that you are the actual account holder, Google will make a small deposit in your specified account within two business days. Your bank may take another 2-3 days to post this payment to your account. Once you see this deposit, sign in to Google Checkout as before and click on the 'Settings' tab. In the new window, click on 'Financials.' Now click on 'Verify account' and enter the exact amount of the deposit. Now click on 'Verify deposit.' If the amount you entered is accurate, your bank information will be successfully updated within seconds.

Google Adsense Certification

Why Become Certified?

Certification is for individuals who want to be successful at managing ads. This knowledge is valuable for marketing, and successful ad management can boost sales for a company. The Google Ad Certification program also provides training and marketing resources, and the certification looks good on a resume.

Requirements

To become certified, an individual must demonstrate a working knowledge of Adwords. To do so, a fundamental exam must be passed as well as one of three advanced exams.

Training

Google's Training Center provides free preparation materials. There are lessons and study guides to help with the fundamentals exams. Lessons in the Training Center are self-paced and provide all the information needed to become an Adwords professional.

Taking the Exam

The exams can be purchased online for $50 each. The fundamentals exam has a time window of two hours and contains over 100 questions of which 85 percent must be answered correctly to pass. If you pass the exam, this information is updated on your profile in about one to two days.

Promotion of Certification

Once certified, individuals can promote this relevant new skill through an individual profile page provided by Google. This page shows exams that have been passed as well as qualifications. Additionally, Google provides a certificate upon completion.

Why Do You Need a Website for Google Adsense?

How AdSense Works

One way to think of Google AdSense is as a 'middle man' in online advertising. Webmasters and businesses wishing to advertise products and services sign up with AdSense, which assigns ads to places on websites based on the relevance of their content to the topic area the webmaster specifies for his site when signing up. In other words, webmasters never come into direct contact with business owners. To facilitate ad placement, it's necessary for the webmaster to install a Google-generate code within the HTML of his website.

Signup Process

Signing up for AdSense is free and a process that takes only a few minutes -- even less if you already have a Google account. After providing contact details, as well as the URL and category of your website, you're taken to a page where you can select how you want ads formatted on your site, including their size, shape and color. Once you've chosen this, Google gives you a code you must paste into your site's 'index.html' file exactly as it appears on AdSense. If you don't own your own website, your means for inserting this code -- and thus participating in AdSense -- are limited.

Blogs

In some instances, you may be able to use AdSense, even if you don't own a domain name. For example, free blog hosts such as WordPress include 'plug-ins' that allow you to link with Google AdSense, copying the ad code into the plug-in applet instead of into HTML files to which you may or may not have access. Check your blog client's support page to see if it's possible to use AdSense, even without your own domain.

AdSense Logic

If you don't own your own domain and have access to its HTML files -- or blog using an AdSense-compatible platform -- you won't be able to generate revenue from AdSense using your website. Beyond the obvious technical limitations that prevent you from doing so, you must consider that for free websites, your provider alone bears the cost of hosting and operating your website, which can actually increase the more users access your site. It makes sense that you shouldn't be able to generate revenue if you don't pay anything to begin with.

How to Put a JPG on My Website

1. Select the JPG picture file you want to place on your website. Choose a high quality picture that is well suited to the topic of the site. Resize the picture to the size you want it to appear on your website. It is possible to resize the picture on your site using HTML, but this increases the time it takes for the picture to load.

2. Open your FTP client, connect to your website's server and upload the JPG file to your server. To keep your website files better organized, it is best to keep all image files such as JPG or GIF files in a folder called 'images.' Make a note of where you upload your photo to in the server's directories in order to determine the URL of the JPG file.

3. Open the HTML file of the Web page that you wish to add the JPG to in your HTML or text editor. Decide where you want to place the picture, and type

4. Save the HTML file, go back to your FTP client and upload the HTML file to your website's server. Load the Web page in your browser and check to see that the image is displaying properly.

The Average Earnings of CPM Ads

How CPM Ads Work

If you have an idea for a website, such as a content site or a search engine, you would begin by obtaining a domain and placing relevant content on your site. Then, you would obtain an account with a publishing network, such as Adsense or Burst Media, which acts as a medium between publishers and advertisers. The publishing networks have a database of advertisers with CPM ads available for posting to your page. Once you post the CPM ad, every time a user views your page, you earn revenue for each of the CPM ads on that particular page. CPM ads should not be confused with CPC --- or cost per click --- ads, which only incur revenue when a user clicks on the advertisement. The advertiser sets his price by thousands of views. For example, for every 1,000 times your page is viewed, your CPM ads earn $2.

Publishing Networks

Adsense is Google's publishing network, the largest and the most well-known; but several other publishing networks provide CPM ads. Tribal Fusion, Brightroll and Adtegrity are a few examples of publishing networks that provide CPM ads. Each publishing network has different requirements, and provides varying levels of customer service to publishers. For example, Adtegrity has a 500,000 views per month requirement, and it is known for excellent customer service, according to a blog post by Darren Rowse entitled '12 CPM Alternatives to Adsense.' As a publisher, look for a publishing network that has all of the requirements and qualities that are appropriate for your website.

Average Earnings

The earnings generated from a CPM ad vary depending on the publisher and the advertiser. Hongkiat.com reports that as of 2011, the average CPM ad generates about $3 to $4 per 1000 impressions. The Calculators Live 'Online Advertising CPM Calculator' reports that as of 2007, the average CPM ad generates about $1 to $2 per 1,000 impressions. Given those estimates, it is safe to say the average CPM ad generates between $1 and $4 per 1,000 impressions.

Considerations

Many publishers assert that ad placement and color scheme play a role in the success of your website. You should place your CPM ads strategically so that they are tactful. Ads on the sides of the page or ads that take up little space at the top of the page are appropriately placed. In contrast, placing ads in the center of the page, or placing excessively large ads, may deter users from frequently visiting your site. Also, if the color scheme of your ads does not match the color scheme of your site, that may also deter users from continuing to visit your site.
